Toronto Jazz Academy Orchestra

The Toronto Jazz Academy Orchestra (TJAO) is an auditioned program for students interested in developing the fundamentals of jazz ensemble playing and improvisation.

Auditions are held each September, and rehearsals take place weekly at Royal York United Church in West Toronto. Throughout the year, the ensemble performs numerous concerts across the Greater Toronto Area and participates in masterclasses and workshops with leading Canadian music educators and musicians.

Attendance Expectations:

• TJAO members are expected to attend all rehearsals and concerts.

• If a rehearsal must be missed, members are required, in coordination with the Musical Director, to arrange a substitute and ensure their music folder is up to date.

• Chronic lateness or absences may result in the forfeiture of your position.

• School events will be accommodated.
